COMPETITION DAY NUTRITION

Proper Nutrition is going to optimize your performance.

"Proper" nutrition is not universal. Individuals require different fuel, workouts put different kinds of demands on individuals. It is your task as an athlete to find what works for you and capitalize on it.

1.
We practice the workouts for months/weeks/days leading up to a competition. Basically, as soon as we find out what the workouts are, we are practicing them to see how we will stack up. Let us normalize also practicing what to eat on game day! The food you eat is going to affect your performance one way or another. It is your choice whether to opt for fuel that will optimize your performance.

2.
Keep things as familiar as possible. Finding out that a certain food does not sit well with you on the day of a competition will add stress to all the other emotions you are experiencing and likely negatively impact your performance.

3.
Who hurt you? Carbohydrates are good for you. And by good for you, I mean your brain and body requires them to function. Eat. Carbs. Please.

4.
Supply your body with energy for the competition! Eat small, balanced meals. Many athletes find it difficult to tolerate large meals or slowly digested foods on competition day.

5.
Choose foods that make you feel energized.

In conclusion we compete to prove our fitness. Take control of your nutrition and leave no doubt you performed your best.
